Rotary Water Campaign for Honduras

The Rotary Club of Carlisle-Sunrise is partnering with the Rotary Clubs in Honduras to provide clean water to the region. Worldwide, 20% of the world's population does not have access to clean water. As a result, 6,000 (mostly children) die every day from lack of potable water. Honduras is the second poorest country in the western hemisphere, and many die each year from lack of clean water and sanitation. Members of our club partner with other clubs in District 7390 and other Rotary districts to install water filtration, distribution, and sanitation systems. Over $10,000 have been raised since July 2007, primarily through the sale of Rotary branded bottled water and donations from private donors and church groups. Rotarians from our club have traveled to Honduras annually since 2006 to help manage these projects. Those interested in traveling, helping, or donating can contact Kevin Cogan at kpcogan@peoplepc.com to learn more.

Rotary clubs throughout the world are working, one community at time, to help alleviate this plight. Visit www.wasrag.com to learn more about Rotary water issues and how you can help.
